Embroidery in West Berkshire and North Hampshire.
We meet monthly on Mondays at St Francis de Sales Church Hall, Off Warren Road, Andover Road, Newbury (unless stated otherwise). Meetings start at 7.30pm and visitors are always welcome.
For most of the meetings, outside speakers are booked. They usually give an illustrated talk lasting about an hour, often describing their own work or other interesting aspects of embroidery or textile art. We often have a chance to see fabulous embroidery at close quarters, and even get to touch it! The talks are likely to appeal to anyone interested in embroidery, but also to patchworkers, weavers, lacemakers and artists.
Practical evenings are run by Branch members and are a chance to try out a technique in embroidery or to experiment with design. Usually materials are provided, but it is always a good idea to turn up to a practical evening with basic sewing kit and pencils and paper.
The Guild also organises Day Schools and workshops on Saturdays. These are open to non-members if there is room, and details of forthcoming events will be given during the Monday meetings.
